Mr. Cipes is a member of the California Bar Association (Business Law and Real Property Law Sections), the Los Angeles County Bar Association (Real Property and Taxation Sections) and the Wilshire Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before all California State Courts and the United States District Court (Southern and Central Districts), the United States Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit and the United States Tax Court. Mr. Cipes is a member of the Continuing Education of the Bar Joint Advisory Committee, Real Estate Subsection.

Mr. Cipes is a board member of the Southern California Transportation and Land Use Coalition and Project New Hope , a non-profit provider of housing and services for the disabled, including the HIV/AIDS population.

Mr. Cipes has spoken at seminars hosted by Home Savings of America and The Executive Committee (TEC) on the subjects of estate planning and succession planning and business valuation for the owners of closely held businesses.
